Rad ab ...

gestern vorm Büro ist mir n Fahrrad aufgefallen, bzw egtl nur das crazy Schloss:

yesterday a bike in front of the office caught my attention, well actually just the crazy lock

Doch dann hab ich mit Erstaunen festgestellt, das Rad hat ja gar keine Kette !?

But then I realized, that bike doesn't have a chain !?

Als ich das dann im Büro erzählt hab wurde ich aufgeklärt dass es sich dabei um einen sogennanten Propeller-Schaft Antrieb handelt. Wer sich das gern genauer anschauen will, hier gibts ne Animation des ganzen (Java Pop Up).

Telling that in the office I was enlightened that this is a so called drive shaft. For anyone who wants to know more, here's a little animation (java pop up).

Kleingeld/change

im Supermarkt um die Ecke zählt man sein Kleingeld dem Kassierer nicht mehr in die Hand, sondern schmeisst es in ein Art Trichter und der zählt dann die Münzen ... naja, egtl ja ganz praktisch, besonders wenn, wie der Kollege vor mir, einer mit seiner Kleinstgeld-Sammlung bezahlen will/muss, haha. Der Typ hatte echt nur Kupfermünzen in seiner Box, und die sind hier auch nicht mehr wert als die in Deutschland ...

Ob das ganze nun gegen Überfälle schützen soll, oder ob dem Personal hier so wenig Vertrauen geschenkt wird ... wer weiss? Denn auch Scheine wandern in diesen Automaten, die gibt man zwar noch dem Kassierer in die Hand, aber dann verschwinden auch diese in nem Schacht und verwandeln sich in Zahlen auf der Anzeige der Kasse ...

Ich bin mir aber irgendwie nicht sicher wie ich das finden soll, ist irgendwie n bisschen unpersönlich muss ich sagen. Und der Typ hinter der Kasse wird relativ überflüssig. Andererseits zahlen hier eh viele mit Karte aber natürlich nicht mit EC, sondern mit der DanKort ... und EC geht nur am Automaten, super ...

at the supermarket around the corner you no longer count your change into the cashiers hand. You just throw it into a kind of funnel like at a toll-booth and it will count the coins for you ... actually that's pretty handy, especially when the guy in front of you pays in really small change only, haha, that dude really had a box full of copper coins ... 

I don't really know if they have that system to prevent robberies or if they don't trust their employes ... who knows? Also bills go into this machine, you still hand them over to the cashier, but he then puts them into a slot and then they're gone and become numbers on the register's display ... 

But I'm not sure if I like it, it feels kind of impersonal. And the guy behind the register becomes somehow unnecessary. On the other hand there are a lot of people paying with cards anyway ... of course not EC (which I have and which works in other european countries), but only DanKort ... and EC only works at ATMs ...

Wer mich kennt weiss wie geil ich Festivals finde ... und wer mich nicht so gut kennt, dem sei gesagt: So was find ich ja mal richtig scheisse ... Aber! das lag vielleicht auch bisher immer am Angebot ... Das Line-Up vom Roskilde Festival hat mich allerdings schon ein bisschen mehr begeistern können. Und nachdem etliche Leute mit denen ich die letzten 5 Monate in Kolding verbracht habe dort hin sind und sich der glückliche Zufall ergeben hat das ich dort arbeiten konnte für gratis Eintritt (220€!), Essen und Bier(!). Hab ich mich auch mal dazu durchgerungen so ein Massenereignis mal näher zu begutachten ... Und es war's echt wert. Zum Glück hat's nur am Sonntag Abend mal für 2 Stunden geregnet und sonst war strahlend blauer Himmel ... Job war easy und echt nett und hat mir ne menge Geld gespart. Was dann die Musik betrifft, wurde ich auch nicht enttäuscht, so ziemlich alle Bands die ich mir angeschaut hab waren echt richtig gut, es war nie zu voll, und die crowd war immer in ner guten Stimmung. Mein top-act war definitiv Girl Talk ... ein Sample-Gemetzel der extraklasse ohne Pause, eine Stunde lang Hitgewitter, sehr zu empfehlen. Das Album gibts 'gratis' zum Download a la Radiohead ... die waren live übrigens mal auch so was von geil das ich mir die Alben echt mal öfter anhören muss. Das solls mal gewesen sein mit Festival-Kommentar sonst werd ich hier nicht mehr fertig ... noch ein Paar Bilder zum Abschluss:

People that know me well know how much I like festivals ... and if you don't know me so well I'll let you know: There's not many things that I think could be more stupid  ... but! maybe that was just because of the offers I had so far ... but the Rosklide festival's line-up sounded kind of more promising. And since a lot of the people I spent the last 5 months with in Kolding went there and I also had the lucky opportunity to work there and get free admission (220€), free food and beer(!) I thought I should definitely give it a try ... and I must say: no regrets!

My personal top-act was Girl Talk sample-mayhem to the max. I strongly recommend to download the album that you can get for as much as you want to pay for it, a la Radiohead. And speaking of which ... they were amazing live! But I'll stop here, otherwise I could go on for hours ...

I also would like to thank everyone who made me go there and took part in making it such a great time ... thank you ...

... man war das ein Schlacht-Feld hinterher, egtl echt nicht so geil, die Hälfte der Leute lässt einfach alles stehen und liegen, inklusive Zelte und Schlafsäcke! Ich mein is ja ok wenns die ganze Woche regnet und mann die sachen hinterher eh nur weg schmeissen kann, aber mit 7 Tagen Sonne und 2 Stunden Regen ...

... the battlefield on monday morning ... people just leave everything behind ... I don't like ... It's all right if you have one week of rain and the stuff is ruined anyway, but it was 7 days of sunshine and 2 hours of rain ...
